Question:

Science vs. bible?

I've been wondering...if the Bible says that the first humans created were Adam and Eve, then what about the findings of the Neanderthal men and some other species like Lucy. I believe in what the Bible says, but i don't seem to understand the appearance of species like Lucy, the cro-magnon etc. If Adam and Eve, who can speak and can understand, were created before the cro-magnon, then how come those species cannot speak and understand if their ancestors were Adam and Eve?

  1. The explanation is simple, the bible is a collection of myths concocted by peasants from old Sumerian and Phoenician myths about 4000 years ago (OT), and a mangled collection of stories and sayings from one of a dozen middle Eastern prophets during the Roman occupation of Israel.

Expecting it to be in any way accurate is unrealistic.

  2. Neanderthal man was fully human.

    Lucy (Australopithecine) was an ape.

    Cro Magnon was fully human.

Every hominid fossil found is clearly ape or clearly human. Adam and Eve were the first humans, and we all descended from them.

  3. The Bible speaks metaphorically; it's a conglomeration of inter-woven oral histories that stretch back over 2000 years. Interesting stuff, to be sure, but it's got nothing to do with factual history.

  4. The bible never intended to make any scientific claims so there is no conflict.  The story of Adam and Eve is a love story that contains profound spriritual truths.

  5. here is as we all know Lucy is found in Ethiopia and Adam and

Eve were in the eden garden also the eden gaden was in Ethiopia. if you want more answer email me

  6. The bible is true...

    Science isn't....

There is no possible way we could evolve from monkeys and apes....

Just because monkeys look like humans, doesn't mean we were made from them...

But that;s just my opinion.  ;)

  7. If I had you watch a "Loony Tunes" cartoon with Bugs Bunny, would you accept that rabbits and ducks can talk? That you can put a finger in a shotgun and not get hurt?

Why not? It's right there on the screen. How much different is that from the bible? No, don't hide in the 'word of god" etc.

With your question, there's the assumption that what was written in the bible is just as true as what's been excavated over a couple of centuries. Where was the garden of eden, where are the bones of Adam and Eve?

Put it this way I claim to believe Bugs Bunny really exists. Prove me wrong. Remember, I'll point to the film and say "See the proof is right there!"

  8. While I personally don't believe in creationism, I'm not about to demand that any person alter their faith if they believe passionately about it.  But the Bible isn't very exact on certain things and often speaks in metaphors so as to confer better understanding.  If it suits you, why not imagine Adam and Eve as australopithecenes?  Sure, the bible says the man was created in God's image, but who knows what god looks like and who can say what his own idea of perfection for his creation would be?  It isn't so much of a stretch to believe that God put evolution into place in order to give humanity a very important gift: a history.

  9. I personally believe in Creationism and Evolution. The Bible is a book describing in poetric metaphors the unraveling of life... it doesnt go into huge grand details. Again, my opinion.

  10. One of the problems with Lucy is that the skeleton was put together with peices found a few kilometers apart.  In other words, some bones were collected and put together so it resembled an early "human."

The groups such as cro-magnon have the same traits as present day humans that live to be very old; hunched posture, large bony ridge over the eyes, large ears and nose.  So it's suspect that these people, Neanderthals, and Cro-Magnon ever existed.  They are simply the skeletons of very old humans.

  11. A great God/Scientist would not create one single pair. He did several, of which Adam and Eve were first of the Hebrews, but not the first humans. The Bible happens to have the best preserved stories, that's all. Other cultures speak of the first Mongoloids, the first Negroids, the first Caucasians, etc. Do you think all races on earth could spring from a single pair of humans? The genealogy from Adam to today, is a mere six to seven thousand years. The earth is billions of years old. Go figure.

  12. The only thing that is missing from the bible is... Once Upon a time and They all lived happily ever after.

  13. The bible you read now is just one of many there were many stories about Adam and eve especially the gardon but there's been some theory that Adam had more than just eve.  They say that eve became a demon named the suklebut something like that.  now i dont know about Lucy.  but Adam was the first male there were no other people at that time.

  14. The stories in the Bible were written thousands of years ago for an audience that was uneducated.  The stories have very fundamental lessons and largely prose.

Genetics, anthropology, and other branches of science have made discovery after discovery supporting the theory of evolution.  Believing in evolution does not mean you are not Christian.  I personally believe that the mutations that guide evolution are by God's hand...

You have take the Bible for what it is... a good tool to teach uneducated masses in the infancy of civilization basic laws of being good humans.  Then add what logic you have and what science has taught us to make your own mind up about how it happened.

  15. Science is logic the bible is faith.

  16. What do you want the Bible to do.  List every single step, every single detail until it reachs the moon.  Our mission is to figure this stuff out that is if you decide to accept it, Mr. Phelps.

  17. They were not considered humans  maybe. I 'll stick to the Bible.

  18. I prefer facts no  Bible

  19. exactly. the bible is just a book of stories.  that's it.  people made them up and other people changed them to their liking.  watch the movie zeit geist.  it explains why the bible is just a ficticious book and that the story of jesus comes from an identical story from the egyptian religion that is thousands of years older than the bibles story of jesus.  the bible is a tool of the church.  i believe the only reason most people believe in these things is purely out of fear.  you were raised to believe that if you don't do the things that the church wants you to do, then you are going to h**l and that people who do not attend church services are all sinners and you are better than them. they ignore science

  20. There is no...:science vs the bible"!

    It's always the bible against...reason.
