Not involving "the end" of the world theory (which I've been browsing through on some internet pages dealing w/ Mayans), How did they predict anything astronomically?

I can only suppose_and I have done almost no reading about it yet_, that their predictions mainly consisted of ECLIPSES????

What else could they predict? And has it been proven?

  1. Their level of understanding how the whole universe works was much more complex than ours. In a way it relates to what Albert Einstein and Nikola Tesla believed in, but they knew that above the physcial world, there was also a "spiritual" world that was just as important if not more so than the physical. By understanding this, they understood through observation and thousands of years of calculations, why the universe, or at least the galaxy works the way it does. It involves a feedback system of some kind with humanity and the center of creation, whatever it maybe be, god or energy. This is why they ended their calendar in 2012, because humanity would evolve "spiritually" into more conscious people, realizing that we are just part of a bigger cycle, and the purpose of life isnt to go to work 40 hr/week and buy fancy cars, but to advance the human race in a way that will evolve the human mind into seeing the connection that we have with the entire universe. I dont know the specifics about the eclipses or any of that, but I do believe they've been right with every prediction they've ever made. Ive been trying to understand and study quantum theory, astronomy, astrology and physics to understand how the mayans understood consciousness and how they were able to make such accurate calendars. We will never know, but what I believe is that the Mayans werent some primitive civilization, but they were founded by a group of people that had lived much like we do today. Possibly even more advanced than ourselves, and then came a time of testing humanity that killed the majority of the populations, by natural disaster, then all the ancient civilizations ad we like to call them, dedicated their lives to warning the future civilizations of these doomsday periods when the Earth does a cleansing of itself, needed for evolution and advancement. To me this all makes sense, because if you look back at the bible, the predictions of the maya, of the azter, the inca, the i ching, the sumerian, and the list goes on, they all seemed to have the same stories or theories on the origins of "creation", and they all had similar stories. It seems to me they have been warning us all along that in 2012 we will see another great change in how we live, I dont see how so many civilizations could be so advanced to the point we cant figure out how they reasoned things, and then they all come to similar conclusions, cooincidence, I dont think so. Thats just my opinion, if the spanish hadnt destoryed much of the writings and scriptures of the Maya, maybe we would know how they did all the amazing things they did. We'll find out in 2012, who the primitive people really are.

  2. They predicted eclipses and solstices, and had a pretty accurate calendar for their day.  Careful observation and detecting patterns for eclipses were how they began making successful predictions.
