If so, which ones? If a bug has an exoskeleton, does that make a difference?

  1. Yes, they have nerves.  They have very sophisticated nervous systems, with a brain in the head and several ganglia throughout the body.  Just like in humans, nerves control lots of things, including muscles and sensory organs.  The exoskeleton doesn't matter; parts of it are modified for sensation.  Just like our skeleton, the muscles connect to it and give the animal structure.
