sorry if there's a problem with the way this question is worded. science is not one clearly defined entity, nor is it a fixed set of ideas.

but maybe you can jam with the question anyway...get creative. make a joke.

  1. So you only want scientists to answer? well for starters it is well known that many scientist have referred to books of revelation from God and have found scientific facts in those books....

  2. Science is a very limited approach to a very limited set of questions ... things that are informed by *physical evidence*.  There are things that are not yet accessible by physical evidence (e.g., there is a limit to how far our telescopes can see, or to how small we can peer with our instruments, or how much energy we can apply to subatomic collisions to see how matter works) ... and there are other things that we may *NEVER* be able to access through physical evidence (such as questions about God, the soul, or heaven).  But science just considers these questions "out-of-scope" ... subject to interesting speculation, but not something we can make conclusions about one way or the other.

I really like jehen's last sentence:

    >"We look for answers to the mysteries of the world, not proof of what we believe."

He is right.  That is *PRECISELY* the error made by religious conservatives who bring beliefs to the doorstep of science and expect science to provide "proof" of these beliefs.  They *start* with an absolute, non-questionable *faith* to these beliefs.  E.g. at the same time they say the question "does God exist?" is a scientifially accessible question, they insist that they will ONLY accept the answer "Yes" ... so they absolutely demand that science *MUST* produce a pre-determined answer.   This is why this approach (such as Creationism) leads both to BAD science, and to WEAK faith.

  3. Yes ofcourse there are species which are still not discovered by scientists, but they are very less in numbers...

  4. Einstein's field equations, special and general relativity, describe the workings of all that we can observe.  Quantum mechanics describes the rest, that which we cannot physically measure or directly observe.

Physics describes all science and every aspect of our realm, in my opinion.

  5. Maybe not a belief - but a supposition.  Consciousness, sentient thought remains something of a mystery.  We really know so little about our universe not to mention the exotic physics of the potential other universes.  We know matter and energy, but we have not explained them.

With all of these mysteries before us, I take it as a matter of faith that astonishing new truths are to be discovered.  Some of these truths will be ones we were seeking, others will come from out of no where.  But it is pointless to speculate what they may be or what that may tell us about the meaning of life.  We look for answers to the mysteries of the world, not proof of what we believe.
