  1. Every one but " you " knows that we are all Jock Tamson's bairns. Brithers an sisters, yin and awe. We're all of Scottish descent.

  2. No. Your direct descendants  didn't come from Africa. There is a difference between saying that you originate from Africa 10 thousand years ago, or that you originate from Africa 100 years ago. There are logical limits to every argument.

  3. Whatever, if you feel like it

  4. lol i agree with the guy before me !!!!

  5. Not at all. I disagree with laws that protect racial minorities because they in effect create an inequality in our justice system. However, those laws are based not entirely on a biological distinction but a cultural one. They exist because of a specific history of violence and bigotry towards minorities in this country (the USA). They are therefore specific to a certain time period and social scenario, and do not broadly relate to human evolution as you would have it.

On another note, don't presume to speak of intelligence and use the term "Owen scents" at the same time. It's a great way to discredit yourself.

  6. actually Africa is the birthplace of women too.

  7. What??

  8. As an American you already have all the rights and responsibilities as a person of color does.  Are you talking about affirmative action?  That's completely different and is meant to counteract the often subconscious tendencies of employers to hire white men.  If you're white, you already have a leg up on black people when getting hired; this is just to try to even out your advantage.

  9. Clever but no. I agree, the term "African American" is political correctness going beyond what is sensible but you and I each know what it is supposed to mean.

  10. Do people of african ansestry have special privileges given unto them?

I don't know where you live, but I'd like to live there...

The idea of "race" is an antiquated idea.  Science does not dable in that, except to diffirenciate in certain genetic markers that are associated with origins.

  11. Following your logic then so would every other person in the whole world.

Society has strange ways of tackling inequality. In some cases they make sence for a short adjusting period. But laws like these cannot change whats in the hearts and minds of people. They can even cause to serve more antagonism between the groups. The change has to be a cultural one. My dilemma with this is  how to preserve our own unique cultures while at the same time changing them to better fit the huge cultural diversity we are subjected to. Our ancestors only had to deal with their immediate neighbours opinions. We have to deal with the whole world.

So heads up for pointing out we all have a common root, weather or not that was your intention.

  12. Most forget about North Africans when they use the term "African."  They also tend to forget those of European ancestory whose families have lived in Africa for 300 yrs or so.  The term as applied today is based only on skin color... a poor method of identifying culture & groups of people.  Therefore the term itself is basically racist & ignores the fact that those from East Africa (the Horn of Africa) are genetically far closer to Europeans & North Africans than to West, Central & South West Africans in all but skin color.
