Scion or Prius...Give it to me straight.?

Question

Tell me everything there is to know about each beyond what they tell you on Consumer Reports, Toyota.com, and so on and so fourth.

Help a brother out! Give me a drivers perspective of each!

The Pruis will always get better mileage, which Scion Model.

The Scion is more "Tech-ie. The CVT in the Prius will take some getting used to.

Both cars drive nice (like most Toyotas) the Prius has more room in the back seat and more useable cargo space. The Scions have more toys and gadgets.

The Scion would be my pick. Costwise you are paying more for the R&D of a modified Corolla with a Prius. Plus, it's only 5-6 miles per gallon more in real world driving than a Corolla, but for at least $5,000 more than what a similarly equipped Corolla could be purchased for. The Scions offer value and are great buys. When you're in an accident, the scion will be chaper to repair. If anything goes wrong on the car (which rarely occurs on the Scions or Priuses), the Scion will cost less to repair. Also, you can take a Scion to any mechanic to be serviced. the savings on fuel in the Prius will be practically non-existent when it's time for that 30,000 or 60,000 mile service. Fuel savings is greater on the Prius but everything else will cost you more. I've driven the Prius and th Scion XB and TC. The XB and TC have a 2.4 liter Camry engine and boy do they go. The Prius is pretty quick too but it left me wanting more. I'm no a speed demon, but I look at power because I want to make sure that a car this size can handle carrying 4 passengers and a weekend worth of cargo without the engine struggling when passing on the freeway or going up a steep highway grade (Vegas trips)- which will waste gas.

The Prius drive system puts out 110hp (combined gasoline and electric).  The guy who thinks it's only 70hp obviously knows nothing about the car.

There goes the "Prius is slow" myth.

That said, the Scion tc and Prius are very different cars.  The Scion tc is a small sporty 2-door coupe, while the Prius is a practical 4-door family car that is a lot bigger than the tc.  If I got a wife and kids, the Prius is a much better choice than the Scion tc.  If I'm single and I just want a sporty car, the Scion tc (it's the son-of-Celica) is the car you want.

The prius is horrible.....it's ugly, slow, ugly, and slow.

The TC is nice, but not really that fast as everyone swears it is.

I have an 06 corolla MT with CAI, headers and a greddy exhaust.

My friend has a tc with similar upgrades, and i'll tell ya, my rolla KILLS that scion EVERY time.

But if you gotta have one or the other, go out in style...tc

Honestly, I think the Scion XB is extremmmmly ugly.  The other scions are OK looking...don't get a Prius.  They may be great on gas, but there is a huge waiting list for them.  And they are very ugly.  and with about 70 horsepower...imagine if you are in the middle of an intersection or merging onto a highway???  not very comforting.  

Iook at a scion TC.  Best looking out of all of them...

The tC looks better, is cheaper, and faster.

The Prius has more room, is ugly, and gets better mileage.
