i'm considering to buy a scooter to go to work: my office is at 20-25 miles from home: by car it takes about an hour/ an hour an half (with traffic), while a friend with the scooter takes no more the 15 minutes.

I just don't feel safe on a scooter....

what do you think?

Thanks

  2. Your safety concerns are justified!

  3. With a scooter, you still have to obey all the traffic laws autos must obey, so you can't use the bike lane or sidewalk.  You won't get to work any faster.

  4. I think a scooter is a good idea, especially if you live in a mild climate. However, it's impossible to travel 20-25 miles in 15 minutes! Scooters can't go faster than about 40-25 miles per hour. With the increasing prices of fuel a scooter could potentially save quite a bit of money. Add in the convenience of being able to scoot through traffic and you've got a good deal.

  5. find out the miles per gallon on the scooter first..

probably a better idea money wise but dont plan on saving time!! :)

  6. #1  don't buy  scooter just for commuting

#2 buy one for the fun and the passion for the love of riding one, if there is no love and passion, it will be a waste of money.

people ride scooters in all types of weather, yes its uncomfortable, wet and cold, but the love of riding overrules that.
