Scoring a century has given me confidence, says http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marlon-Nathaniel-Samuels-c74804 – Cricket News Update
Marlon Samuels, the top-order West Indian batsman, claims that his sterling century in the tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 Cricket Board XI has given him enough confidence to face the challenges of the coming series, which consists of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and a
one-off T20I.
The series is going to start today, October 11, 2011, with the only T20I that will be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
In the 20-over tour match, which was held on October 9, Samuels lashed 102 runs off just 56 balls with the help of 15 fours and 4 sixes, steering his side to win by 75 runs.
Samuels aims at perpetuating this momentum to the rest of the games and powering his side to win the series.
Talking to the media today, the talented batsman said, “I played really well and that has really given me the confidence. I hit the ball nicely and I was able to find the gaps, so for me that was quite satisfying. I played some good shots but I also batted
smartly and that was the key. I feel ready to take on the Bangladesh bowlers."
The 30-year-old has made a comeback to International cricket after a gap of at least two years. He was banned by the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) two years back for his alleged ties with an Indian bookie.
The batsman delivered some excellent batting performances during two home series of this season against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
“There were ups and downs, but now I am trying to put them behind and move forward. I have been given the opportunity to play consistently for the team which I always wanted and you will see the best of me," stated the Jamaican, while speaking about the
setbacks he faced in the past.
He has also lauded the coach of Jamaican cricket team for training and preparing him for International challenges.
Making his International debut in 2000, the right-hander has played 32 Test, 117 ODI and 10 T20I matches so far.
