Scotch guard on pool table felt?

just got my pool table recovered a friend told me if I treated it with scotch guard it would make it last longer looking for opions from some of you top notch people

NO!!! Dont even think about it that would play H with your ball control

And its cloth not felt

A good CLOTH will repel small stains anyway  That stuff just makes the table play off

I would never do that; it can change the way the balls roll if you treat it with scotch guard.   I can't see it making the felt last longer anyway and as far as repelling stains you shouldn't have drinks near the table anyway.
