I don't really think it makes a great deal of difference. I would recommend Glasgow.

look at the courses! the top universities are st andrews, glasgow, edinburgh, aberdeen so i would say they would have the best english courses.

Depends what you want, Edinburgh and Aberdeen have some of the best educational facilities in the UK and are great places to socialize too, but if you want somewhere REALY scottish then go to Inverness :)
