I heard somewhere that there is a law against taunting swans in Scotland. Is there any truth to this?

  1. Yes, there are laws against molesting swans in any way, as due to some long written law, around twelfth century, all swans with unmarked beaks belong to the Queen, those with marks on the right of the beak beolong to the Dyers company, and those with marks on both sides belong to the Vintners Company

There is apparently an actual annual head count of swans. You might remember the outcry a couple of years ago when it was found that some refugees camping out in parks in London were actually catching.....and eating swans!!!

  2. No. Next question,.

incidentally, what is it about you and vexxed swans? Just leave the buggers alone for chris' sake.

    Jeez

  3. Swans belong to the Queen. No idea why she likes them so much- I think they're a bit evil looking.

I don't know if that law applies to Scotland, but I would imagine so as she is still the head of state, even if her presence has little impact

  4. Yes, it is covered under the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004

  5. I know you aren't allowed to harm them, but don't know what the law for it is. I've always been told its against the law. Leave the poor wee things alone!
