Scotland coach Andy Robinson aims to win southern hemisphere respect
Scotland head coach Andy Robinson believes his team can win against New Zealand at Murrayfield on Saturday 13 November.
The Scottish coach admitted his team must play with an intensity that can match the All Blacks if they are to succeed.
"It is imperative that we front up from the first whistle against the All Blacks on Saturday and play the game at a tempo where we can unveil our skills and show our discipline," said Robinson at a press conference.
The former English coach insists that his team can reproduce the same type of display that beat Australia 9-8 last season.
"We have shown our appetite to drive forward our game and our aim is to improve on our best performances last season, which we know inspired the country. The support we had during our autumn Test against Australia last year was phenomenal," said Robinson.
The Scottish coach admitted that the home support spurred his team on and that the same type of atmosphere will be needed if they are to record a famous home win against the All Blacks.
"The crowd shared the players' belief and conviction that day and roared us on and we have to do our bit to create that same fabulous atmosphere this weekend,” he added.
Robinson is well aware that his team will need to make a statement to the Southern Hemisphere sides ahead of the World Cup and he will be eager to show that they are not the weakest team of the home nations.
A shock result or a gritty performance against the All Blacks could prove that Scottish rugby is on the up.
"As someone who loves his rugby it's been a real thrill to watch many of New Zealand's games this year and, for me, it's important that this month the Scotland team earns the respect of the Southern Hemisphere by the qualities we bring to bear. The winning
of this Test match is in our hands,” said Robinson.
