Scotland bagged its first victory of Rugby World Cup 2011 against Romania on September 11 by a huge margin of 34-24 and set the target to achieve another victory against Georgia in their next clash.
It was a patience testing match for the supporters of both sides as the squads failed to score a single try in the match. however, Scotland is delighted with the triumph. The whole match was played at a snails pace and only two players from both sides contributed
in the scoring activities of their sides. Dan Parks scored five penalty goals for his team whereas Merab Kvirikashvili helped his Georgian side with similar goals.
Talking to the reporters after the match, Robinson said that it was the initial target of his side to clinch two victories in the first two rounds of RWC 2011. He further said that, “I set a target of nine points from the two games in Invercargill and we've
achieved that. In terms of winning a game it was a good performance. There was a lot of talk beforehand from a lot of people but the key for us was to get four points (for the win).”
The coach also stated that, “Everybody wrote about the strength of Georgian scrummaging, rightly, but I felt we dominated the scrum today. Also we stopped Georgia mauling, which we struggled with against Romania. The front five were outstanding in the way
they took on a renown Georgian pack.”
Scotland will now face a much better side of Argentina on September 25 in Wellington.
