Scotland must contend with more injury problems
Scotland may be without seven first team players for their Test with South Africa at Murrayfield on Saturday 20 November.
A number of players picked up injuries during the team’s 3-49 thrashing by New Zealand over the weekend.
As a result of the injuries, Scotland coach Andy Robinson has decided to delay naming his starting 15 for the game against the Springboks on Saturday 20 November.
Captain Mike Blair was forced to leave the field with a head injury, while Max Evans also had to be substituted with a shoulder problem.
Rory Lamont and Hugo Southwell should be able to take their places in the team, but both players have tight leg muscles, which will mean that they will sit out training.
Prop Alasdair Dickson and back-row John Barclay have picked up more serious injuries. Dickinson injured his shoulder, while Barclay twisted his ankle and both players' positions are now in doubt.
Richie Gray, who made his debut against the All Blacks has a dead leg, but he is expected to be fit.
However, Robinson may opt to drop the forward in favour of the experienced Nathan Hines.
Gray told the BBC that he must improve if he is to establish himself in the Scottish team, "I was happy with some things, disappointed with others," he said. "I was happy with some of my set-piece work, a couple of good spells in attack. I got to grips with
the game, but I'll need to improve a lot.
"The physicality and the pace of the game is something I'll need to improve and adapt to. We let ourselves down and the nation down. However, this is the positive about the autumn Tests. We've got another game to bounce back and get ourselves back on track,"
he added.
Robinson will be concerned by the number of injuries to his squad and will be anxious that some of his injured players will not be fit in time to start against the Springboks.
