Scotland’s John Higgins asks Judd Trump and Mark Allen to keep their cool: 2012 Snooker Shootout
The stage for the upcoming 2012 Snooker Shootout is set for the top-64 snooker players to participate in the shortest format of play in the game as cueists have to finish the frame in a mere 10 minutes to gain maximum points for ultimate victory. Before
the event commences, a couple of brawls are circling around the baize among some of the top players in the sport.
Earlier, Northern Ireland’s Mark Allen was fined because of using foul language during the press conference he conducted after his first-round match at the 2011 UK Championship, where he criticised World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn for making format changes
in certain tournaments.
On the other hand, Judd Trump called former World Snooker Champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson boring and slow on the table which made the 2012 Masters champion a bit disheartened and he is now keen to show the youngster his class by producing an excellent
show at the 2012 Snooker Shootout.
The four-time World Snooker Champion, John Higgins has urged both Mark Allen and Judd Trump to cut out the sniping and play cool in the Snooker Shootout. The Scotsman said that both of them would not want to be fined by World Snooker.
The Wizard of Wishaw spoke to the Press Association Sport, “It happens. Often when you come off after a big match the adrenaline is still running. I'm sure they don't want to keep on getting fined, so it's something they'll definitely learn from.”
“Judd doesn't really need to say these things,” Higgins added, “To say that if he played well he'd have beaten Neil easily, that's being a bit disrespectful to your opponent. I think Neil Robertson thoroughly deserved to beat him, but Judd is great for the
game. He's bringing new fans into the game and that's good.”
Recently, the Northern Irishman was fined £250 by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) following his controversial press conference during the 2011 UK Championship. He was also warned to avoid such remarks in future.
