Scotland’s John Higgins cannot wait to play at Crucible and win 2012 World Snooker Championship
Ruling World Snooker Champion from Scotland, John Higgins felt disappointed over his performance in the current snooker season and confessed that he took it a bit easy. He had lost his confidence of defending his world title this year because he was not
feeling strong enough. However, he decided regain his form and get back in action at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The Wizard of Wishaw started practising hard on the baize so that he can retain his winning momentum in the World Championship. The Scotsman is going to inaugurate the Championship with his first round clash against the Chinese potter, Liang Wenbo.
Higgins knows that, keeping in mind his previous performance in the current season, beating Wenbo with the Crucible pressure will not be so easy so he has to pull up his socks and play sensibly against the Chinese cueman. Higgins’ performance in the recent
season was not up to the mark and failed to add any major title in his account which raised the questions about his abilities.
On the other hand, the Lanarkshire potter himself is not feeling confident about his results but he does insists that he will give his best in the 2012 World Snooker Championship and will defend his title. Practising in his club has given him a lot of confidence
and he thinks he is ready for the action.
While speaking to the media, Higgins said, “I don't feel too confident but I'm really looking forward to it. I've been hard on the practice table for the last couple of weeks and I've just been sharpening up my game like I think I need to. I can't wait to
get down there and play again.”
He added, “If I win my first game at the Crucible it could all change. If you get through it, you feel like you're in the tournament and things can start to happen for you. It's the most nerve-wracking experience you've got as a snooker player. You don't
feel pressure like it and I'm sure it will be the same again.”
The defending Champion will play his first match on April 21 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield where all his fans will be present. The conditions will be difficult for him because his opponent has the ability to bring an upset defeat.
