Scotland’s John Higgins looking to win another ranking event: 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals
Reigning World Snooker Champion, Scotland' John Higgins has been outstanding so far with his cue stick in the 2011-12 Snooker Season. He maintained his top form in the recent season to win a couple of important tournaments.
Despite winning many snooker events, Higgins still hungers for more tournament wins and is looking forward to add the 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals in his account as another win.
The Wizard of Wishaw clinched his fourth World Snooker Championship crown in last May. However, after that he tumbled a bit down as he began his campaign of 2011-12 Snooker Season with a slow start in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1 where
he lost in the first round. He failed to improve in the next couple of events as well including the 2011 Australian Goldfields Open and some PTC events.
However, he fought back into his form and clinched a Premier League Snooker event. Besides, he continued slowly and steadily with his improving form and regained his momentum despite the fact he was not able to win any major event. The 36-year-old is now
aiming to hit back with the 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals victory and make himself ready to defend his World title in May, 2012.
While speaking to the World Snooker before heading to Ireland, Higgins said, “I played well in my first couple of matches in China, then lost to Robert Milkins in the quarter-finals but he played great. It was encouraging and with three tournaments left
this season I'm just going to give everything to try to win one of them.”
The World Number six added, “I still find it hard to lose and every defeat is a knock to my confidence, but I have got my head down now and I'm going to work as hard as I can for the next couple of months until the end of the season.”
Due to his unconvincing performance in the PTC events this season, Higgins has been drawn in the opening round of 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals against the Welshman, Jamie Jones. In case Higgins wins over Jones, he will meet England’s Andrew Higginson in the
quarter-finals.
