Scotland’s Stephen Hendry apologises to his fans after crashing out of 2012 China Open
Former seven-time World Snooker Champion from Scotland, Stephen Hendry was quite hopeful to win against the 2012 Masters snooker champion, Australia’s Neil Robertson when he entered the Beijing University Students Gymnasium arena to play his second round
match of the 2012 China Open. However, things did not go as he expected and the veteran dropped down easily at the hands of the Victorian potter by the score line of 3-5.
The Golden Boy has apologised to his fans in China because he was not able to play up to their expectations and crashed out of the tournament in the second round. The Scotsman believes he was not in good shape against Robertson and lost his focus during
the game which cost him the defeat in front of his fans that especially came to watch him win.
While speaking to his fans in his post match interview with the World Snooker, Hendry said, “I didn't do enough things right. I was hanging on and hanging on and in the end Neil made a good break, he deserved to win.”
He added, “I had enough chances to win the match tonight but just wasn't able to take them. I apologise to everybody that was supporting me and hoping for a victory tonight. If they're disappointed, they are not as disappointed as me.”
The snooker ace further commented, “I found it hard to focus. There were long stages of the match where I wasn't concentrating at all. I just wasn't able to focus my mind properly. I find it increasingly difficult to play my best snooker and focus on matches.”
Hendry’s performance in the recent season has not been up to the mark as he did not take part in many snooker events because after losing in the 2011 World Snooker Championship, he was very disappointed and even hinted his retirement but after consulting
with his family, the former champ decided that he would participate in major events only.
He started well in the 2012 China Open beating the Englishman, Martin Gould in the first round, despite the fact that his first match was tough. However, the Scot will be in the qualifiers of the 2012 World Snooker Championship where he will test his luck
again.
