Scotland’s Stephen Hendry appointed global Ambassador for Chinese Pool Billiards
The former seven-time World Snooker Champion, Scotland’s Stephen Hendry has now got a new job to perform as the veteran potter will play the role of the global Ambassador for Chinese Pool Billiards. The Scottish potter has been directly appointed by a Chinese
Pool Billiards organisation to promote the sport across the globe.
The Golden Boy of snooker world signed a contract with the Joy Chinese Pool Sports Development Co. Ltd, the promoting organisation of Chinese Poll Billiards, on Wednesday, February 8. Some of the basic responsibilities that Hendry will perform as the ambassador
include the promotion of Chinese Pool.
Chinese Pool is a unique eight-ball game that mixes up the richness of snooker with the fury of nine-ball billiards format. Hendry’s face and fame across the snooker world will surely play an important role in the promotion of this new game.
During the agreement signing ceremony in Beijing, Hendry hoped that his involvement for the cause will bring good results for the campaign. The Scottish cueist is one of the greatest players in the history of the game.
Hendry, while speaking to local media said, “My mission is to promote the development of Chinese Pool across the whole world. This is not only a great honour for me but also a brand new start for my career. I come to know that this game with strong Chinese
characteristics has become the most popular one among the Chinese people.”
The 43-year-old Scot added, “I am convinced that Chinese Pool will have a promising future and the thought of working together with Joy to create another miracle in the billiard field often makes me thrilled. I would also like to introduce this charming
billiards game to my friends because from today on, I am the Goodwill Ambassador of Chinese Pool.”
The Ice Man is heading to World Snooker Academy in Sheffield to participate in the qualifying session of the 2012 Welsh Open. Earlier, Hendry hinted his retirement after losing at the 2011 World Snooker Championship and decided to participate only in major
snooker events.
