Scots Gaelic to pair up wins by bagging the Ascot Stakes (Handicap) at Ascot
The Class 2 Ascot Stakes (Handicap) will be hosted by Ascot over two miles and four furlongs on Tuesday, 19th June. Competing for the £34,238 prize money is a line-up of twenty four-year and older runners. Reasonably successful through the six
seasonal starts is Scots Gaelic, Tomba’s five-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Harmonic.
He kick started the season with a fourth position in the David Flynn Construction Maiden Hurdle on 1st January at Tramore over two miles. The race was won by Pass The Hat who led the runner up, American Flyer, by three lengths.
The five-year-old was entered as the 5/2 favourite.
After missing the second seasonal outing to the similar outcome, Scots Gaelic won the Curracloe Maiden Hurdle on 17th March at Wexford over two miles. The 100/30 favourite winner of the race took charge of the final three and a half lengths and
set Coral Creek as the runner up.
A New Day filled up the third slot behind the winner.
Patrick Flynn’s under charge then got driven down to the sixth position in the Jog For Jockeys 29th July Novice Hurdle on 1st April at Limerick over two miles and four furlongs. Spring Heeled won the race while finishing right behind
was Ballysteen. The 11/4 favourite of the race, Page Turner, ended fifth on the track of seven.
The next two races in which he took part resulted in a third and then a first position. Both the rankings reflect an improved horse than before, a place and a victory.
On 10th May he ended third in the Sepam Tipperary Perpetual Cup Handicap at Clonmel over two miles and a half furlong. Headford Flyer won the race and enjoyed a minor edge of ¾ of a length.
The 5/1 favourite of the race, Beau Michael, qualified as the runner up.
The chestnut gelding’s second success of the season surfaced on 6th June in the form of the Fairyhouse Summer Series Handicap at Fairyhouse over a mile and four furlongs.
Scoring the second position was Adatara while the 100/30 favourite of the race, Prince Of Fashion, concluded the race fifth on the field of fifteen.
His chances of grabbing the race today are quite substantial.
