I'm applying for a midwifery course in Langside college, main campus on Prospecthill road. Can anyone tell me what is the name of this area, as I will have to move nearer to the college because I'm in Motherwell at the moment and its a bit too far to travel. I can't stay in the college halls of residence because I have a four year old son and partner who will be living with me. I want to look for houses or flats nearby but I don't know what the surrounding areas are called. I just know its in Glasgow. I don't know Glasgow very well. Can you help me out? Thanks!!!

  1. The surrounding areas are Mount Florida, Toryglen, Shawlands. Check out this link which will give you more of an idea of the location - http://maps.yell.com/client/yell/?qs=50+...

Hope you find somewhere suitable to stay and good luck on your course!

  2. its near mount florida (Hampden park) and toryglen.

  3. Are you sure Langside does midwifery courses? As far as I know Bell College is the only one in this area that does nursing, Langside does access to nursing but so does Motherwell College. I don't think Langside College has a halls of residence, its only a small college in Battlefield area, it is not a university which you would need to do a midwifery degree. If you want to move to glasgow there is Strathclyde uni or Caledonia University that does nursing degrees but they are in the city of glasgow, Bell gets a good name for nursing degress. Langside is in the outskirts of glasgow

  4. To the east of Langside College is Mount Florida; to the west is Battlefield.

The nearest railway station is Mount Florida on the Cathcart Circle. It is easy enough to get there from Motherwell, without going into the city. Take a train to Newton and then get a train from there to Glasgow via Kings Park.

  5. surrounding areas are Langside,Cathcart,Newlands, Shawlands,Toryglen(dont look for a house here),Mount Florida.

Caledonian Uni is in the city centre across from Buchanan Street bus station

  6. To be on the safe side i would phone the college and ask their advice. dont leave it to answers on here. They may be able to give you pointers on where to find suitable accommodation.

Good luck and welcome aboard!   I hope you enjoy your new career
