Scotsman knocks Hammer down to retain McCoy Premier League
The procession of interesting and exhilarating encounters continues to take place at the Manchester Arena of the McCoy Premier League.
In another one of such matches, defending champion Gary Anderson was able to claim victory over the debutant Andy Hamilton with an 8-2 score line.
For many, it was the magic of home audience that worked for Anderson in providing him an indirect source of confidence.
The defending champion at Aberdeen was welcomed in a rapturous manner by his crowd, especially after he was able to secure a convincing victory.
In his earlier match against another debutant, Kevin Painter, the Flying Scotsman was despondent that he was not able to defeat his opponent with a substantial margin.
Even though victorious with a score line of 8-6, Anderson was desperate to further sharpen his darts skills and improve his performance substantially.
His match against Hamilton proved to be the opportunity that served as the tonic for him.
Speaking to Planet Darts, Anderson said, "It's nice to get a win but I'm still struggling with my form".
The final nail in the coffin from Anderson came in the form of an 11-darter that provided Anderson with a classic finish of the game, which went very well for him on the whole.
He stated, "It's great to play in Scotland but when you're struggling it adds a little bit of pressure, so it's a relief to get the win".
He added, "I know I've got a lot of improvement in me and I want to be hitting 120 averages, but I'm a long way off that at the moment".
The Somerset darts player, from the very beginning, held a firm grip on the game by securing his position with an early 4-0 lead.
With a consistently rising lead, Hamilton was provided no opportunity to capitalise and, hence, the game remained in control for Anderson throughout.
It is, however, important to mention that the Hammer did make an attempt to bounce back in the game by scoring two legs back to back.
However, Anderson’s unprecedented enthusiasm, coupled with the zeal of home crowd, made things extremely difficult for Hamilton to counter.
For his next encounter, Anderson is ready to meet James Wade on the oche. Wade was defeated by Hamilton in his campaign launching match.
