Scott Boras confused over Prince Fielder’s free agency situation – MLB News
Prince Fielder’s agent, Scott Boras is perplexed over the late situation of his client’s free agency that is yet to be solved. Both are still ambiguous as to whether they should go for a long multi-year contract or agree over a shorter deal. Recently, reports
speculated in the media that Fielder has now agreed to sign a potential contract of three years at $26 million per season.
This possibility was rejected by Fielder’s agent Boras on Tuesday, when he gave an interview to a renowned sports website. Boras explained, “Not only is that inaccurate and delusional, but it seems that some people have gotten into their New Year's Eve stash
just a little bit early this year, It appears some baseball people are just bored. That's when you hear ideas like that floated.”
Scott Boras was somehow right to say that Prince Fielder’s fans are now getting a little desperate to witness him in the top Major League Baseball (MLB) team after seeing Albert Pujols’ 10-year multi-million contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
According to Fielder’s agent, plenty of teams are looking for his free agency and pursuing him hard. Earlier, around six teams have approached him and Fielder. The Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Florida Marlins, New York Yankees, New York Mets and the
Chicago White Sox are among the top contestants to sign Fielder.
Prince Fielder, who is considered one of the most feared hitters in the league, has never played anywhere else except the Milwaukee Brewers’ roster. Some say he might have stayed longer in the club but after knowing that the Brewers management will not re-sign
him, he filed for free agency and is now looking for a potential contract with some other team in the league.
Fielder, who is looking for a 10-year deal is very optimistic to get it soon as his previous stats are exceptional to impress any team. Last season, he went with .566 at slugging average along with 38 home-runs, 120 RBIs and .415 OBP while his career hitting
average at .282 with 230 homers, 656 RBIs and .390 OBP also makes him a world-class player.
