Scott Donaldson aiming for strong run in new snooker season – Snooker News
Winning the 2012 European Snooker Championship was indeed a marvellous success for the Scotsman Scott Donaldson as he played tremendously in the event. However, this was just a beginning; tough times are still ahead because this victory has booked him a
place in the professional circuit tour of the new snooker season where he will be facing some of the toughest opponents of the main circuit.
He participated in the Players Tour Championship (PTC) last season but did not finish according to the expectations and finished on lower rankings in the PTC Order of Merit. After that the Scotsman tried his luck in the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School
(Q School) to earn a place in the main tour. He performed convincingly in the all three events but still failed to win the pro ticket.
However, the European Snooker Championship title placed him in the pro tour. He is now aiming to cash this opportunity and improve his current ranking in both World Snooker Ranking list and the PTC Order of Merit. He will face some tough challenges though
but he is feeling confident that he will do well in the new snooker season.
While speaking to the local media, Donaldson said, “Now I’ve got to come to terms with it and make sure I don’t change. I can’t afford to be too arrogant about it. I need to push on. This is where is starts now and I hope to compete with the best players
in the world.”
He added, “It’s been a good feeling but I need to tell myself that I’m still the same person and that I can’t afford to be too cocky. Now I need to get things sorted out with World Snooker regarding my membership and a tournament entry pack. The first event
for me will be the first UK Players Tour Championship at Gloucester on July 18.”
The proceedings of new snooker season have begun with the qualifying sessions of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open event at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. Donaldson’s target is making an appearance
in the PTC events starting in July this year.
