Scott Donaldson all set and excited to play in new snooker season – Snooker Update
After putting up an excellent snooker display at Latvia, during the proceedings of the 2012 European Snooker Championship, Scotland’s Scott Donaldson was able to claim the European title.
He was up against Brendan O'Donoghue in the final encounter and easily defeated him by the score line of 7-3. Winning the European title booked a place for Donaldson in the pro circuit tour of the new snooker season.
Donaldson did take part in the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) but was unable to win a berth in the pro tour. However, he performed tremendously in the European tour and booked his seat in the new season tour. He was unable to take part in
the first two major ranking snooker events of the 2012-13 Snooker Season. The Scotsman really missed the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open event.
Meanwhile, the youngster is aiming to make an appearance in the upcoming events of the new season. Donaldson is aiming to improve his ranking with his impressive performance in the remaining events of the circuit. Donaldson has improved his game a lot during
the past couple of months especially after he claimed the European title and believes he can perform up to the mark in the upcoming events.
While speaking to World Snooker in his recent interview, Donaldson said, “It's exciting, I can't wait to get started. Every match will be a challenge, but if I play well I can compete. Everyone on the tour is capable of winning a tournament, that's how high
the standard is. The main thing is to enjoy it but I want to get results as well.”
The youngster added, “It will be a massive step up from the amateur game. That's what people keep telling me anyway! I won't know for sure what it's like until I try it.”
The young Scot lives 15 minutes away from the house of former seven-time World Snooker Championship winner, Stephen Hendry and has grown up watching him at the baize. Hendry is one of his inspirations to come to the game of snooker and aims to follow in
his footsteps.
