Scott Donaldson and Michael Leslie aiming for positive run in new season – Snooker News
As long as the game of snooker is growing across the globe, the world is witnessing many new emerging faces who have performed brilliantly in the amateur tournaments not only in the previous snooker season but they have show their talent in the recent season
as well.
These new faces have quickly made their place in the international circuit and have made their presence in a couple of important events so far.
Scotland’s Scott Donaldson and Michael Leslie are two of those new cuemen who performed brilliantly in their run of the European snooker events.
Donaldson was outstanding against Brendan O'Donoghue in the final encounter of the 2012 European Amateur Championship at Latvia and defeated him by the score line of 7-3.
On the other hand, the Bonnyrigg potter, Leslie put up an excellent snooker display in the 2012 European Under-21 World Championship and was able to claim the title at the Dedeman Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He performed according to the mark from the very start of the event and defeated some tough opponents during his tournament run to face the ultimate challenge in the final.
Both potters are now aiming to make an appearance in the upcoming events of the new snooker season so that they can prove their skills to the world.
While speaking to BBC Sport, Donaldson said, “I can't believe I won it. It was 80 of the top players from all over Europe. This is what I've been working towards. I left school two years ago to try to play snooker full-time. I didn't want to end up thinking
'what could have happened? Don't get me wrong, this is where the real stuff starts. I have not done anything yet but hopefully I can move up the rankings.”
Leslie, on the other hand, added, “My ambition has always been to be world champion.”
Both potters will be preparing for their upcoming challenges as they battle it out against some of the top names in snooker. It will be interesting to see what type of impact some of these new faces to snooker will provide in the upcoming tournaments of
the new season.
