Scott Donaldson disappointed over missing two major events of 2012-13 Snooker Season
After a successful finish to the 2011-12 Snooker Season and the end of the 2012 World Snooker Championship, the 2012-13 Snooker Season began with the first event of the 2012 Asian Players Tour Championship (APTC) where potters from around the world participated.
The first major ranking event of the season, the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event, started featuring Top 16 against the qualifiers. The event finished successfully featuring Ricky Walden as the champion.
These qualifiers made their way to the pro tour either via 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) or through their performance in the respective national or continental championships. Many of the potters who qualified for the pro tour did not show
up in the first two major snooker events which made them lose their ranking points.
Reigning European Champion, Scotland’s Scott Donaldson was one of those cuemen who missed the first two ranking events of the new snooker season. Donaldson tried his luck in the 2012 World Snooker Q School but could not win the tour ticket. However, he earned
the two-year pro tour ticket after his impressive performance in the 2012 European Snooker Championship. The Scot still regrets the loss of ranking points that he missed not playing in the ranking events.
While speaking to the Pro Snooker Blog in an interview, Donaldson said, “I know, that’s a bit annoying, it’s not as if it were two small events, it was two ranking events that meant something and there are only eight or nine ranking events during the season
so that’s a big chunk out of that. It’s not good, but the thing is though I’d rather be on the tour than not be on the tour.”
He added, “A couple of players who could have gone to Latvia decided just to play in the Wuxi and Australian like Duane Jones, I was a bit surprised he didn’t go to Latvia but it has worked out well for me in the end. I would rather have two years than two
tournaments.”
Donaldson will now be preparing to take part in the 2012 World Snooker European Tour. He is feeling all set to test his luck and skills in the upcoming European events.
