Scott Donaldson hails his father’s support in his career – Snooker News
New snooker season has begun with the launch of 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament at the Wuxi Sport Centre. Recently the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) announced the names of new players who will take
part in the new season. Winner of the 2012 European Snooker Championship winner, Scott Donaldson is also one of those new rookies.
The Scotsman played outstandingly in the 2012 European Snooker Championship and was able to make it into the final encounter where he faced Brendan O’Donoghue. Donaldson performed impressively in the final encounter against O’Donoghue and was able to defeat
him by the score line of 7-3 to book his place in the professional circuit of the 2012-13 Snooker Season.
The young Scottish potter believes his success in the European Championship is because of his parents’ support. He specially mentioned his father and stated that he was always standing beside him and supported him a lot during his quest to qualify for the
main tour. The Scotsman will be looking forward to take advantage of this opportunity and improve his rankings as well as his snooker skills.
While speaking to the PA Sport about his father’s support, Donaldson said, “My dad has paid me into tournaments over six or seven years and my mum has helped too. Dad has believed in me since an early age. I was down and wanted to quit when I was 13 because
I thought this wasn’t for me and he picked me up.”
The youngster added, “He’s spent so much money on me that it’s his title as much as mine. I left school two years ago and thought I would give it a shot at going full-time, but I didn’t know how it would work out.”
The previous snooker season was not a convincing finish as he played moderately in the matches but still the Scot is hoping for a positive run in the new season. He participated and showed great improvement in the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q
School) but failed to achieve his goal.
He will take part in the 2012-13 Players Tour Championship (PTC) and try to give his cue another chance to place himself in the pro circuit.
