Scott Donaldson happy to win pro tour ticket for 2012-13 Snooker Season – Snooker News
Winner of the 2012 European Snooker Championship, Scotland’s Scott Donaldson was able to place himself in the list of players who qualified for the main tour of 2012-13 Snooker Season. The Scotsman played impressively in the European event against Brendan
O’Donoghue in the final and was able to beat him by the score line of 7-3 to ensure his victory.
Recently, the youngster gave another try to his luck in the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School). He made it to the fourth round and the quarter-final stage of the first two events but failed there to earn a pro tour place. He crashed out of the
third event when he lost to John Sutton by the score line of 4-1 in the second round.
Donaldson was selected by the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) on the basis of his title win in the European event. He feels very happy to be on the main tour and is aiming to make an appearance in the
pro circuit.
While speaking to the local media, Donaldson said, “To get my pro ticket by winning such a big tournament is a massive bonus. I went close at the Cue School last month but this is miles better. To win the main European Championship when I’m 18 is just brilliant.
Now I’ve got to come to terms with it and make sure I don’t change. I can’t afford to be too arrogant about it.”
He added, “I need to push on. This is where is starts now and I hope to compete with the best players in the world. When I potted the final ball I couldn’t answer any messages because my phone had almost melted it was so full.”
He will be participating in the upcoming PTC events with the goal to improve his rankings so that he can take part in the qualifying sessions of major ranking snooker events.
Donaldson had a lot of support from his family during his championship run, especially from his father who always appreciated and encouraged him. Previous snooker season was not a strong finish for the Scot as he participated in the 2011-12 Players Tour
Championship (PTC) only and was not able to win any of the events.
