Scott Donaldson relieved to be in new snooker season – Snooker News
Start of the new snooker season was not so superb for the reigning European Snooker Champion, Scotland’s Scott Donaldson as he missed the first two major ranking snooker tournaments of the 2012-13 Snooker Season, the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker event and the
2012 Australian Goldfields Open tournament.
Missing these two events did affect his ranking points but the Scottish potter is still satisfied being a part of the new season.
In reply to the question by the Pro Snooker Blog in an interview whether he is happy to be in the new snooker season, Donaldson said, “Oh…yeah! And the way that it has happened is even better because I was so close in Bulgaria at the European Under-21 Championship
where I got to the semi-finals of that.”
He further added, “Then at the Q School, at the second event I was two frames away when Jamie O’Neill beat me 4-2 and I thought that it’s not going to happen is it? But I managed to win the European Amateur Championship, which is even better because I’ve
got a title to my name now. The way it has worked out is just brilliant.”
The Scot was placed in the 2012 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) line-up and he performed up to the mark in the first and third event but failed to book his place in the pro tour.
However, his impressive performance in the 2012 European Snooker Championship was enough for him to book a place in the pro tour for the next two years, which is quite delightful for the young potter who is very determined to make an appearance in international
snooker.
He started his new season campaign with the 2012 UK Players Tour Championship (UKPTC) Event 1 and reached the second round of the event where he lost to Jamie Burnett. The qualifying round of 2012 Shanghai Masters was comparatively better fir him but still
he crashed out of the event in the third round. His next stop will be the second event of UKPTC where he will be facing compatriot Fraser Patrick in the opening round.
