Scott Evans storms into Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final at Bitburger Open Grand Prix Gold 2012
Ireland’s experienced player Scott Evans proved his highly elevated craft on court and stormed into Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final after showing exit to Finland’s Eetu Heino in second round of Bitburger Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Germany, on Wednesday,
October 31.
The un-seeded Evans, who has been showing an elevated performance in different international tournaments for the last one year, played with great confidence on court and easily knocked out his Finnish rival while consuming less than half-an-hour in the arena.
Evans was in staggering form as he took the bird quite early and put his rival in an odd situation throughout the battle by keeping the pace of rallies high and eventually finished up the battle in straight games with a striking margin.
On the contrary, Heino failed to play positive and aggressive badminton as he failed to place his jumping smashes in gaps and eventually knelt down to his Irish challenger without grabbing any set in this second round contest.
Both shuttlers showed a wonderful fight in the initial points by playing to their maximum potential and remained neck-to-neck at the initial stage.
However, Evans took over the control by putting variations in his shots and started to dominate the pace of rallies while remaining focused and positive on court.
The impressive game plan helped Evans to take control of the pace and he established a reasonable lead until the end of opening half.
After the interval, Heino failed to create trouble for his rival as he lost his focus on court and started to play negative shots.
However, Irish shuttler remained positive and aggressive on court which helped him to claim the opening game with a reasonable margin of 21-14.
In the following set, Heino put in extra effort to play attacking badminton but he failed to create pressure on his Finnish challenger in the opening points.
On the other hand, Evans was at the best and remained successful in building a superb gap until the end of first half.
In the concluding part, Irish shuttler continued his comfortable ride while remaining focused and easily ended up the second set by a superb margin of 21-17.
The impressive Evans easily ended up this second round encounter in straight sets in just 29 minutes with a 21-14 and 21-17 score on the board.
