Scott Jamieson, Gregory Bourdy and Garth Mulroy share the third place - Alfred Dunhill Championship
After four days of exhilarating performances by the golfers, The Alfred Dunhill Championship finally came to its close on Sunday, the 16th of December, 2012.
Scott Jamieson clinched the third position of the Alfred Dunhill Champion. The Scottish professional golfer played a fantastic final round and climbed the leaderboard on the final day.
He made five birdies with a calm and composed attitude on the course, on the 6th, 9th, 10th, 12th and the last hole of his round.
In addition to the birdies he recorded, the Scott played a magnificent thirteenth hole and carded an eagle to fancy his chances on top of the leaderboard.
There were slight lapses during his pursuit of the final round, as he made three bogeys. Two of the bogeys were witnessed earlier in the round, on the second, and the fifth hole. The last bogey came on the penultimate hole of the final round.
He played a decent final round and thus his performance paid off in the form of the third position in one of the biggest tournaments on the Sunshine Tour.
Meanwhile, Garth Mulroy came in the tournament as the defending champion. There were plenty of expectations from him but with a solid third place finish, the South African golfer made a statement and justified his last year’s trophy.
Although the tournament did not go as well as the professional golfer would have hoped for, still it was a decent performance on his part.
When Mulroy walked out onto the Leopard Creek Golf Club fairways, he looked like a man who had his eyes set on a target. He went on and made eight eye pleasing birdies in the final round.
Overall, it was an average performance from the South African but the champion of this year’s Alfred Dunhill Championship, Charl Schwartzel, belonged to a league of his own.
On the other hand, Gregory Bourdy was at a stage during the tournament when it looked like as if he just might win it. However, all changed for the Frenchman as he played a disastrous third round.
During his final round of the tournament, the professional recorded barely three birdies. To add insult to injury, he made a bogey on the 3rd hole and a double bogey on the last.
On the whole, all three players managed make up for their lapses, at least partially. After all, to secure a T3 finish is not as bad, considering the level of play that was witnessed throughout the tournament.
