Scott Moore’s RBI single helps Houston Astros beat Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 – MLB Update
Scott Moore on Saturday, August 11, hit an RBI single in the bottom of the tenth inning to give a decisive 6-5 victory to Houston Astros over the Milwaukee Brewers at Minute Maid Park. This was the second straight walk-off win for the Houston Astros as the Brewers’ bullpen witnessed a sharp slump.
The Astros had beat the Brewers by 4-3 in the first of three-game series and herein scored the second victory. Since June 26-27, this was the first back-to-back straight wins for the Astros this season – leaving the Brewers watching.
The credit, it goes without saying, went to Moore for stealing the win for the Astros.
"I was just trying to get a pitch out over the plate to put the barrel on," Moore said. "If I could get the ball in the outfield, there is a good chance we are going to score. I was in that situation like three times tonight, and fortunately, I was able to come through the last one."
The starters of both the teams struggled as the game kicked off. Marco Estrada, in particular, could not quite do his bid, allowing four runs in his four-inning spell. Dallas Keuchel, on the other hand – remaining relatively stronger,  gave up four runs in his six inning spell,
Jim Henderson, whom the Brewers were counting upon as closer could not quite hold his ground as closer on Saturday and gave up the run that blew the opportunity for the Brewers to win.
"(Henderson) did his job the first inning and we put him back out there, but he's not going to be perfect all the time," Brewers' manager Ron Roenicke said. "I thought we did a nice job of battling back and scoring runs once we got behind."
After having won their previous games – even sweeping the series against the Cincinnati Reds, the Brewers were expected to have an easy victory here, but it did not materialise, thanks to the ever impressive performance of the Houston Astros.
The Brewers, nonetheless, will try their utmost to avoid a seemingly imminent series-sweep as the last game will be played on Sunday.
