Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker has revealed he is hoping his side are able to secure a decent result against Manchester City over the weekend.
The English midfielder joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window from relegated side West Ham United. Since his arrival he has done well to help the Spurs into the top three of the Premier League table after fantastic performance for the London
side.
Their terrific form after a poor start to the season sees the Spurs title contenders, with their upcoming fixtures against Manchester City and Manchester United looking to be potential title deciders. Parker revealed he was aware that the upcoming fixture
was highly important.
Parker said while speaking to reporters:
“Obviously last season [with West Ham] was very disappointing. We were involved in a relegation so it was quite difficult, even though we played some good stuff.
I was involved in that so it was quite disappointing. But coming to Spurs now and being where we are in the league and doing as well as we are things are very good.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international admitted it was disappointing for him to see his side face relegation, but was now happy with the Spurs. He was happy to be in the top three, competing for the Premier League crown in the 2011-2012 season.
The former Hammers midfielder admitted the upcoming fixture was important for Tottenham Hotspurs chances to claim the title at the end of the season. He revealed that while every fixture was important, the clash against Manchester City was especially important.
Parker revealed:
“It is a very big game for us. It's a big game for Manchester City and I suppose in the Premier League every game is big. Sunday is certainly going to be that.”
The midfielder revealed they had been training hard this week and having missed three games due to a knee injury expects to be in the starting XI against Manchester City. It is not yet certain if Harry Redknapp will start the midfielder at the Etihad Stadium.
He continued:
“We've got a full week's training ahead of us and touch wood everything is fine.”
