The English midfielder was ruled out of the last few games for Tottenham Hotspur due to an Achilles problem which put a doubt over his involvement with England for the European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032. The 31-year-old is currently under treatment.
Parker said in an interview:
“I didn't play in the last four Tottenham games, I was having injections and the injury was taking time to respond. But perhaps my luck was changing because it eventually started to get better and I felt my chances of being selected were increasing if
I was fit enough to play.”
The former West Ham United man admitted he was concerned about his fitness, since he did not think he would be fit in time for the European competition. Having not featured for the London side in their last four fixtures in the English Premier League, Parker
felt he would automatically be ruled out of the England squad.
However, he has been in treatment with the English medical team and has reportedly been responding well to the treatment. In terms of the manager’s belief in him, Parker is confident Roy Hodgson will retain his trust in him to recover and perform when the
time comes.
He revealed:
“The biggest challenge is regaining full match fitness. I played against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974 and I'm getting stronger and have 10 days of training to get me in shape, so fingers crossed I'll be fully fit when the tournament gets underway.”
According to Parker, he expected to regain full fitness in time for the first fixture of the European tournament. Association.
The Spurs midfielder felt as compared to Capello, the players understood Hodgson better since there was no language barrier between him and the rest of the team.
Parker continued:
“He's extremely well organised and you have a far better understanding of what he requires from you.”
