Scott Parker keen on first team football at Tottenham Hotspur
Former West Ham United midfielder Scott Parker revealed he was willing to fight for a place in first team at Tottenham Hotspur. The 30-year-old England international admitted he was currently enjoying himself after transferring to White Hart Lane during
the summer transfer window after the Hammers were relegated at the end of last season.
The English midfielder said he was aware that he had to improve his performance if he wished to impress Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp. Parker has to compete with a long list of midfielders to get a chance at securing a place in the starting XI
at the London club. Even though he has done well recently, he is aware he has to remain consistent in the upcoming fixtures.
Parker said in an interview:
“I knew when I signed for Spurs that it would be difficult and it is. I will have to work hard and prove myself to stay in the team.
You always know when you come to a big club that there will be real competition for places and I think that's healthy.
But I'm up for the challenge and it can only be good for the squad to have such good competition. We're all pushing each other.”
Parker admitted it was tougher earning a place in the Spurs first-team than it had been at his former side, West Ham United. However, he insisted he was up for the challenge, having done considerably well against Wigan Athletic over the weekend. Parker partnered
Sandro in midfield as the London side went on to win the Premier League fixture 2-1.
The midfielder said he was not worried about the competition within the squad, instead he welcomed it. Parker felt the competition encouraged the team to perform better and hoped it would also persuade him to maintain his form. It was his excellent performances
that helped him secure a place in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 national team and Parker was keen on retaining his spot.
He continued:
“Things have gone really well for me over the last few years. My main target is to keep fit, try to stay in the side and help as much as I can.”
