Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker has revealed he is relieved to be available for England for the European Championships.
Even though Parker was unavailable for Tottenham Hotspur’s last two fixtures due to an Achilles injury, he recovered in time for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974. The former West Ham United man featured 55 minutes under new manager Roy Hodgson in the 1-0
win.
The Spurs midfielder revealed he was extremely pleased with being able to feature for his country and regaining fitness. He admitted he had only begun training three days before the fixture against Norway was supposed to take place.
Parker revealed in an interview:
“It was my first game for a while and I'm pleased I've come through it. It felt good and I felt fine.
I had trained for the previous three days and it's the first time I trained for a while and it felt okay. I was relieved.”
Despite being happy to be fit for his country, Parker admitted he was disappointed at having lost out on the opportunity to play UEFA Champions League football next season to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. The Blues won the Champions League against Bayern Munich because of which
they now take fourth place Tottenham Hotspur’s spot in the competition next season.
He admitted:
“I was disappointed. We worked so hard to get to fourth spot in the Premier League. Obviously to lose the Champions League spot at that late stage was disappointing.”
Meanwhile, Parker and the rest of the players are having no problems adjusting to the new England manager. He revealed they were aware of how the manager wanted them to play and they were handling it well. Parker felt that even though they played in different
clubs, they had come together well under Hodgson.
He revealed the new manager had told them exactly what he expected from them and the players had complied, which is why they had been successful against Norway.
Parker continued:
“We are all playing at different clubs and have different styles of play and he has set us up and told us how to play and we tried to do it against Norway.”
