Scott Parker has come out and stated that he is proud of participating in England’s win over Spain in their recent friendly encounter at the Wembley stadium on Saturday. Parker was used by Capello in a three man central midfield
partnership along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903 from the start of the match.
Parker lasted the longest out of the three who started in England’s midfield and earned praise for his enduring levels of consistency throughout the 90 minutes of football played in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 between the two giants of world football.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048 all started for the Iberian giants. The FIFA World Cup winners and the European Champions controlled the possession for the majority
of the match but it was Parker’s hard work and crucial interceptions in the midfield area which prevented them from finding that final killer pass for their equalizing goal.
In the end, England held onto gain a vital win which was well needed for the 1966 FIFA World Cup winners considering the pressure that they were under before the start of the match. Spain did well in their own terms as well but
they couldn’t turn the possession that they had into a goal.
Parker spoke about the match in his post-match comments and said that he wasn’t guaranteed to be in England’s squad for next summer’s European Championships in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 because he has had a lot of surprises in his football
career up till now.
He said, "There is no complacency. I realise how tough it is going to be. I need to retain my form. There are a lot of players who will come back into the squad (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 included). But I've come a long
way in six months. Six months ago I wasn't even really involved. Eighteen months ago, I wouldn't have really believed I would get the ovation I have got now against Spain. It was a massively proud moment for me. In one way I have to pinch myself”
