Scott Piercy moves to the 41st place in the Official World Golf Rankings
Scott Piercy finished tied for the second position at the World Golf Championships – HSBC Champions and moved to the 41st place in the Official World Golf Rankings.
The HSBC Champions was the last of the four WGCs of the season, and was held at the renowned Mission Hills Golf Club’s Olazabal Course.
Following his final round in China, he revealed that his goal for the season was to list among the top-50 players in the rankings.
Therefore, he was really pleased with his performance throughout the season, which solidified his position in the top-50 in the list.
Piercy told the Golf Las Vegas NOW journalist, Brian Hurlburt, "That Top‑50 number in the world is kind of a golden number, and I'm just really glad that my game is coming around and kind of where I think it should be".
He added, "Starting the week, I was 44th in the world, and obviously I can only really go up from there finishing where I did”.
According to the Las Vegas Golf Region native, he found some momentum in Malaysia, where he participated in the CIMB Classic.
After posting a disappointing 75 in the opening round, he decided to go aggressive. He posted rounds of 68, 64 and 62 in the last three rounds and finished tied for the 10th position.
The strong finish boosted his morale for another week in Asia and he continued his form in the HSBC Champions.
He started off his campaign with a 68 in the first round. He then added another two rounds of 68, prior to finishing the tournament with a 65 in the final round.
His final round included a total of six birdies and a sparkling eagle, while conceding only a single bogey.
“I found something last week in Malaysia and it carried over into this week,” he said. “It started Friday afternoon of last week. I played well from there, and just brought it all the way here and made a few putts coming down the stretch which were big”.
