Scott Redding amused to lap on the Kalex race simulator – MotoGP news
Moto2 British rider, Scott Redding paced up to lead the time sheets at the Valencia test session. He improved his lap times than the initial day of the test session.
The Brit was excited to set some lap times on the Kalex new chassis race simulation on the final day as a treat.
While talking to Motorcyclenews.com, Redding said, “I was really happy with the race simulation. The bike was very consistent and I finished the race run with the same time that I started, so that’s the consistency I’ve been missing.”
On the final day, he spent some time on the race simulator from Kalex. The team tuned the simulator according to the new chassis developed by Kalex.
While running on the simulator he recorded lap time in low 1 minute and 43 seconds. On the final third day of the test session he scored a lap time of 1 minute and 42.9 seconds.
However, it was not his full potential performance but he recorded a decent lap time to take the top seat. It helped him to gain confidence as his consistency helped him. He ran a full race length during the last day of the test outing.
The Brit added, “The race in Jerez is 26 laps but I ended up doing 28 because one of my mechanics messed up, but I forgive him for that because I was still running a good pace. Every lap was in the 43s and I only did one 44 on the 27th lap because I missed
a gear.”
By the end of the season’s final outing the British rider was content with the bike, claiming it to be one positive session.
He made few changes in the bike setup. In fact, the Kalex machine was tested on the factory provided setup to test the basic performance level of the motor.
The bike delivered good numbers on the clock and proved to be a strong competitor for the 2012 season. The new 2012 bike is bigger in dimensions that help Redding to set fairly easy than last bike. The previous bike was a bit smaller and hard to move fast
in the corners.
