Scott Servais releases statement after joining the Halos
Scott Servais has joined the Los Angeles Angels as their new Assistant General Manager (GM). The former Texas Rangers Senior Director of Player Development announced his decision to leave his former club and join the Halos on a bigger role. The Statement
was released on Friday, November 4.
The former Farm Director was credited a lot for his efforts with the Rangers. Minor League teams have flourished under his rule and that is something the Angels would like to capitalize on. Under Servais, four of five minor league teams, affiliated with
the Rangers, went through to the playoffs in three of the last four years.
The Angels have clearly struck a significant blow against the Rangers and there will be a lot of problems at the Texas clubhouse after this new development. The former Texan representative was brought to the Rangers by General Manager Jon Daniels in 2005.
He was the first man to head the chair after the new GM’s appointment, that year.
The new Assistant GM has one goal that the Angels have laid out on paper and that is to develop the team’s youth and rising talent. Servais thanked the Rangers and the Angels in his statement, concluding it with an outline on his role.
"I would like to thank the Texas Rangers for the opportunity they gave me. They have some phenomenal baseball people from [whom] I have learned a tremendous amount. I'm thrilled to join yet another top organization in the Angels, [with] owner Arte Moreno,
President John Carpino and general manager Jerry Dipoto.
"We will hit the ground running in the scouting and player development program to ensure the success of the Angels now and for years to come. It will be our goal to always have a championship-caliber team for our fans."
The Angels will be hoping to utilize the star signing in many ways. Servais is known to help the Rangers’ catchers. He was a former MLB catcher as well and that brings insight of a player into perspective. Nelson Cruz credits Servais for his development
as a player and that helps explain the importance of Servais in the club.
