Scott Verplank and Lucas Glover return to the golf field after recovering from injuries - Golf News
Scott Verplank and Lucas Glover have both returned to the field of golf after recovering from the injuries that forced them to stay away from the game for a long time.
Verplank and Glover are now getting ready to make a comeback at the PGA Tour’s Transitions Championship, scheduled to be played at the Innisbrook, a Salamander Golf & Spa Resort, Palm Harbor, Florida, from March 15 to 18, 2012.
Both the players were seen on the course on Tuesday while playing their practice rounds.
According to Verplank, he still needs a little more time to recover completely. However, he is fit enough to start playing the game in order to return back to his form.
“I’m pretty sure I’m going to be OK,” Verplank said.
“It’s not 100 percent yet. I’m still a little bit leery of hitting irons off marginal lies, when you know you have to take a divot and go get it. A lot of the deal is getting over it in your head”.
Verplank suffered a wrist injury while he was playing the Deutsche Bank Championship and withdrew just after he carded 78 in the opening round of the event.
The player was then advised to have a surgery to which he responded positively. Therefore, during his wrist’s tendon reconstruction, a tissue had to be folded around his tendon to keep it stable.
Verplank told that he was planning to return to Phoenix Open, which he failed because of the severity of the injury at that time.
However, he now feels quite comfortable and wants to warm up prior to the start of the Masters Tournament scheduled in the next month.
Glover, on the other hand, had a knee and tendon injuries after he had a boarding accident prior to the start of the 2012 golf season.
Glover believes that he is now completely fit to play the game of golf and make a good finish at the Transitions Championship to kick start his 2012 PGA Tour season.
“The knee is 100 percent,” Glover said. “I am in good gym shape, but need to make sure I am in good golf shape to be able to walk four days in a row. That’s the plan for this week”.
Meanwhile, when both the players are making their comebacks from the Disabled list, Paul Goydos has been added to the list after an injury that could sideline him for around three months.
