Scottish Open 2012: David Howell safe from missing the cut for now
The race for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open 2012 is on as the best in the world go head to head. The first day came to an end with many marvelous performances from the players. The stage for the event is the Castle Stuart Golf Links. The event
started on the 12th of July and is going to end on the 15th of July.
David Howell had a good day according to him. Whatever may be the case, there was nothing special in his day. He just registered three birdies during the whole day.
Howell started off his day with two consecutive pars on the first two holes and then a birdie on the third hole. There was just a bogey on the seventh and the rest were pars.
This made his score even par after the front nine. There were no double bogeys or eagles on the first nine holes.
On the back nine, Howell started off with a birdie on the tenth hole. His birdie in the start was followed by seven consecutive pars and he ended his day with another birdie. This made his score two-under par on the back nine.
Howell’s total score after the first day was the same on his back nine, two-under par. He managed to complete the 7193 yards course in 70 shots.
He finished at the 71st spot with Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Angel Cabrera, David Drysdale, Daniel Denison, Ernie Els and many others.
David Howell is standing right on the edge of missing the cut. In an interview after the end of the first day, Howell said, “It wasn’t anything special given that we were lucky with the conditions. Two-under was probably about the worst you wanted to be,
around and about the cut mark”.
Howell finished the interview on a positive end. He believes he can still do it. He said, “I do feel that I have a couple more good rounds left in me”.
At the end of the first day, Francesco Molinari was at the top of the leaderboard with a magnificent ten-under par. Alejandro Canizares ended his day on the second spot, just two strokes away from the leader.
Søren Kjeldsen and Raphael Jacquelin ended their day with seven-under par, three strokes away from the leader. They finished tied at the third position.
