Scottish Premier League News: Samaras plays down Celtic’s surprise loss
Celtic’s centre forward, Samaras has come out and played down the defeats that have been suffered by Scottish league giants Rangers and Celtic in the 2010-2011 Scottish Premier League season so far. Samaras who previously played for Manchester
City in the English Premier League spoke to the press as he emphasized the fact that the defeats that Celtic have suffered thus far have come earlier on in the season as thirty games are still to be played in the Scottish league season.
Celtic lost their last league match against Hearts at Tynecastle side in Scotland whereas their title rivals Rangers dropped points to Hibernian at the Ibrox stadium as they lost by three goals to nil. Neil Lennon, Celtic’s manager was
not best pleased as his team lost to Hearts by two goals to nil and thus lost ground on Rangers in the Scottish Premier League title race. Celtic play St. Mirren F.C on Sunday in the Scottish Premier League but it all remains to be seen how things will plan
out over the course of the season as far as Celtic and Rangers are concerned.
In a press release Samaras stated, "It was a good opportunity for us on Wednesday to go first in the table but trust me, there is a lot of twists and turns until the end of the season and both teams will lose points, that's for sure. There's
still nearly 30 games remaining, it's not possible to win all the games. We must forget what happened against Hearts. It's in the past and we are looking forward. I don't want to make any excuses, say what was wrong or what was bad, all I want to do is focus
on the next game. When you lose a game it is not the best feeling but there is always the next day in football and all we can do is focus for the next game against St Mirren away."
Neil Lennon, Celtic’s manager also spoke to the media on the eve of his team’s matchup against St. Mirren. Neil said, "They (St Mirren) had a good result at Dundee United and you seen by the results the other night that any team can beat
any other team on any given day. There was a lot of surprise results. Danny has done a decent job there. It has been difficult, he's had to bring new players in to a different level of the Scottish game but I'm sure he would have been delighted with the result
against United because it is a difficult place to go."
Celtic will be without their star midfielder Ledley for the match against St Mirren as he received a suspension due to a direct red card that was shown to him by the referee during Celtic’s match against Hearts. Lennon commented on the
squad situation at Glasgow Park as he said, "It is good to have competition again. Thomas has done very well but we were pleased with Jos on Wednesday night. He has been very patient when other players might have chucked it and he was steady against Hearts."
