  1. we would hump them in league/cup games.

  2. The lack of money in Scotland, to buy even the most average players is throttling our game. It is stuck in limbo, and going nowhere. Take Hull city for instance, with their share of the Sky tv money, they will be able to out bid the old firm for players how sad is that for Scotland and the SPL tough times ahead!!!

  3. Madina surely you meant to say....fail to break OUT of the bottom 4.

  4. considering the pre-season is one week behind in england the thrasings handed out show that there is a massive gulf between even the mid league epl teams and the top two in the spl..getting to the finals of an also ran european competition only led to self delusion..we are so far behind now the top europeans have vanished into the distant yonder..I often slag off the old firm but its sad to see how far they have fallen..

  5. Yeah I agree.  Rangers and Celtic are untouchable when it comes to the SPL, I know they loose a few games, but I mean in terms of the final league standings.  I cant see another SPL team winning the league in my lifetime (and I am only 24 lol), but when it comes to the EPL, the old firm would fail to break into the top 4, IMO they would both be mid-table at best.  Its true that Rangers and Celtic are big fish, in a small pond.  Its basically a no win situation, too good for the SPL, too average for the EPL.

  6. The gulf in class is happening in the english premiership too and the only way clubs are trying to catch up with it is by throwing money at players. Team in scotland seem to be poor eg Gretna, Hearts and the only way nowadays is to be rich and throw money at players to improve. Money has improved the english premiership but destroyed england's national team. A team will come through sometime and challenge Celtic, Rangers or at least I hope they do.

Cmon the Liverpool (sorry rangers fans.....)

  7. What we have, that they sadly miss, is the heart and passion that we Scots have. We may have less talented players, but with the passion that we can play our game and the passion the fans show more than makes up for the talent lost. And this is why we will always be able to compete with them on the football field, at club and international level (after all, the records when Scottish and English clubs have played in Europe against each other are in fact very good when you compare the two countries) . We Scots have a obsession at wanting to beat the English at football, and we also want to beat them at Every-thing else, and I'm not shy to admit, that i have very few English friends, because at the end of the day i do not like them..call me narrow minded all you want, but i don't give a shite..

  8. we will never compete with teams that have millions more coinage than we do...so sad that it is coming to this.

hopefully though on the bright side it will encourage our youth teams to develop into stronger players.

the lisbon lions did ok eh? home grown talent and all that...money however is ruining football..the soul has gone

  10. we just have to keep plodding on bluebell and do as well as poss - friendlies count for nothing really!

  11. Tough call hunny, but i think we are pretty far behind and would initially struggle but if the tv money came it would'nt be too long til we were both chasing top 6....maybe !!!  I have neighbours like you and they have "make up nookie"......have to turn up my tunes on sat and sun morns !!! hop yr sorted hunny and cheers x

  12. Nah Bluebell ,as has been pointed out by the poor sods from the wrong side of Hadrians wall a number of times (when our teams hump the Nigels)these games mean nothing except to get teams sharp and gelled,we should judge the gulf on competitive games ,and to be fair we have more than held our own in these games in recent times.

  13. no bluebell ! i 4 see a future 4 some time ! i see its a new 4ormat ? just back from holiday and played some golf all i heard all day was  4 ! 4! 4 ! 4 !!!!!!!!!! and that was me i new my rangers mates new ???????????? 4 in a row !!!! HAIL! HAIL! it good ta be back !
