  1. Glasgow is a fantastic city that is very welcoming to all comers. There are of course a few idiots (numptys) but that's the same in any city in the world. Glaswegians tend to call a spade a spade so if someone doesn't (disnae) like you, then you'll pretty soon know (ken) about (aboot) it. As for learning English (sassenach) here, you might want to reconsider that, as even other Scots have a problem understanding our (oor) accent! But please come and ha' a brae hooley!

  4. I'm from Aberdeen and Glaswegians are friendly folk.  You should be fine, though what you learn will be Scottish well weigie tongue as opposed to the queens english.

  5. Glasgow is a good place to learn English. People are friendly and helpful. If you're going to  a language school the teachers will have very soft accents and perfect english grammar anyway. It's nice to learn a foreign accent and have people notice where you learned. My husband is Italian and has lived in Scotland since 2003 and he has a lovely accent. When he goes to England people are always fascinated. I knwo loads of foreigners who live in Glasgow and have picked up the accent. I learned Italian from Sicilians so when I speak to peopel in other parts of Italy they can hear the Sicilian accent and they love it. I know lots of foreigners in Manchester who have picked up the Mancunian accent. It's great!

Remeber that every city in the UK has its own accent so don't be worried about your accent. British people need to tune into eachothers accents when they first meet but only for the first few minutes and then you are fine.
