Scottish pound notes?

Hello everyone,

My questions are 1) is there any authority to regulate the printing of Scottish Note? 2) does the Scottish government/parliament regulate which banks may print notes (i.e. if I were to start a bank, it got off the ground, and I wished to issue promissory notes like the RBS and the Bank of Scotland would the government stop me?)

  1. No, it's a power currently reserved to the UK government.  The Scottish government don't have a say in which banks print their own notes.  It's up to the banks in Scotland themsevles.  Currently the only banks here to print their own notes are RBS, BOS & Clydesdale.  The new BOS notes look like Euros BTW....really cool!
