  1. That is not a question ,it is a statement with a question mark after it. Will have to report you to the S.S.

  2. Scottish Power are one of the worse companies I have ever dealt with.

Even if there is a problem, they'll put in a test metre to test your normal metre is correct [usually for a week]

Inevitably they will find your metre is working perfect and unless you are genned up on the workings of electricity metres it is impossible to argue.

When this happened I changed provider and magically my bills halved!

  3. Scottish Power and most energy companies are renowned for over estimating  energy readings ,take the meter reading yourself and ring them up if they have over estimated and get your  monthly direct debit bill reduced.

  4. Most likely thing is that you were paying £45 a month but they were taking estimate readings.

Then they took a real reading and found you had used more units than they had estimated so they are spreading the cost yo you over the next 12 months.

You can certainly change supplier but you will have still have to repay Scottish Power for what you have used

Lesson for the future is never accept estimated readings, if you get an estimate, then take your own reading immediately and telephone them with it.

  5. Try phoning them, you may be able to sort it out without much fuss.

  6. Contact them and ask them to explain the bill and why it has doubled. If you have any difficulty in paying this bill speak to them A.S.A.P. and arrange with them to pay it off as best as you can.

It may help to stop the Direct Debit, but you should seek further advise from Citizens Advice first.

Don't let them fob you off, you are an important and loyal customer and you expect a reasonable response.

  7. The only people that can help you are Scottish Power.  I would get onto them right away & if they don't give a satisfactory answer try something like Uswitch.com to change to a cheaper gas/electricity provider.

  8. Maybe your meter is mixed with your neighbor or someone,my elec meter was mixed with my  neighbor, and their meter didn't run ,but mine ran like F1

  9. Have they actually read the meter or is it an estimation? Get them to read it if not and investigate further, sounds like too much to me.

  10. Sometimes they make mistakes. I would give them a ring and ask them why it is so much. I'm with them too and when I first moved in they sent me a bill for over £100 when the house had been empty for 3 months!

  11. £98 is less than double £45

  12. Unfortunately I too have had major problems with Scottish Power, I believe them to be one of the most disorganised (and rudest) utility companies I've ever had the displeasure to deal with.  I have asked repeatedly for over six years for a statement of accounts because when I was with them they sent me a bill for over £1,000 and didn't send anything to justify this huge amount.  I hope you have better luck with them, and maybe someone from SP will read your message and reply to you.  I'm convinced they are out to give people a hard time!  Change supplier, and fast.
