Does anyone know of a golf course in the Scottsdale area that is A.) relatively inexpensive and B.) offers the opportunity for two bad golfers to potentially go out alone (instead of being paired). Happy to go even at mid-afternoon.

  1. There is nothing in Scottsdale that is relatively inexpensive.  Not golf, not food, not clothes nothing.  So if you live or are staying in Scottsdale if you have to ask how much it is you can't afford it.  Next you want the least popluar course where no-one plays so that you can go out as a twosome.  This is also not going to happen now which is the "high season" or busiest time of the year for that area of the country.  Since you are in your words "bad" golfers, maybe you should concentrate on practice at the driving range.  This will be inexpensive (bucket of balls $10 or less), you won't hold up the other golfers, and maybe you will improve enough so next year you won't have to ask this question.

  2. If you wait until the middle of summer when it is like 110 degrees, you can get on for a big discount and it isnt crowded (because most people cant survive the desert heat).

Just bring plenty of gatorade and towels.

Scottsdale is where they put most of the fancy, expensive courses around there. I would try some golf courses in Pheonix if there are any.

PS - If you want to play for cheap and when no one is there, some courses offer twilight green fees (after 3 or 4 oclock) which are alot cheaper., as long as you dont mind finishing in the dark.

  3. Depends on the time of year.  McCormick Ranch may be what you want, but I don't know your price range or when you are willing to play.
