  1. love it, I'm a vegan too! when mixed with spices and bits of onion, tomato, parsley, and mushrooms and served with ketchup they taste just like eggs. Amy's frozen dinner has a dish called tofu scrambler. Its really good, but has some sodium.

  2. I think it is very tasty. I like Amy's tofu scramble breakfast and Amy's tofu scramble in a pocket.

  3. I am a former chef and while all the answer are great, I like mine a bit softer, silken is to soft, but medium is fine, I cook some onions in veg oil until slightly golden, add some turmeric for colour, my seasonings/spices and then the drained chopped tofu and warm it, try to do it slowly to leech out the moisture but not so fast as it can scorch and turn brown, then I serve it on whole wheat toast with a dot of veggie margarine and eat up, it is good for you and can be made into different things, try as many as you like.

  4. I was a bit skeptical my first time but oh my goodness it is amazing! It is one of my favorite foods! There are so many different ways to make it and there are tons of great recipes out there! But the basic taste is I guess you can say eggs without the nauseating taste and more fresh with vegan mac and cheese twist to it. Here is my favorite tofu scramble recipe:

    The Best Breakfast Scramble Ever!

    Ingredients (use vegan versions):

        Cheez sauce:

        1/2 cup flour

        1/2 cup nutritional yeast

        1 teaspoon garlic powder

        2 cups water

        1 teaspoon yellow mustard

4 tablespoons or less of vegan margarine

        Stir fry:

        1/2 onion

        1/2 green pepper

1 tub drained and crumbled extra firm tofu (not silken style)

        cooking oil

        turmeric (optional)

salt sub and pepper to taste

    Directions:

    Make Cheez Sauce:

Mix first 3 ingredients together in sauce pan. Add H2O and mix thoroughly. Heat on Med until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat and add mustard and margarine (I like Earth Balance). Set aside.  *I got the recipe for this sauce from this site (cheesy enchiladas)*

    Stir Fry:

Saute up some onion, and green pepper in oil.  When they are good and soft, move them to the sides of the pan and form an empty circle in the middle for your tofu. Add more oil to the middle of the pan, then add your drained, crumbled tofu (don't use silken, use extra firm). When it starts to get golden, mix in the peppers and onion and keep frying.  You can add some turmeric for color if you like.

When it looks like you could eat it, add the nut.  yeast sauce and mix it all in to coat until that becomes golden brown too. I saute this for another couple of minutes.  You might not need all of the sauce. I save the leftovers for pizza or nachos.

Add pepper to taste (this makes all the difference!)

Serves: 3-4, Preparation time: 20 minutes

You can search these recipe sites for more recipes and search google images to see how tasty it looks!:

This recipe is so, so good.  I make it every weekend and I crave it during the week.  I leave out the mushrooms because I don't like them.  I add some sundried tomatoes and sometimes I stir in a couple big handfuls of chopped fresh spinach in towards the end.  I top it with a little salsa and serve with hashbrowns or homefries and vegan sausage.

  6. I saw a video on youtube of a young woman who made a scrabled tofu dish for her breakfast. I can't be bothered looking for it I'm afraid, but her alias is everyday dish. You should subscribe to it, it's pretty good.

  7. I have one that I have made for years. Very quick, very easy, and with common ingredients:

1 lb. extra firm water pack tofu (NOT silken--Trader Joe's is best!)

1 green or red pepper, chopped

    1 onion, chopped

Bragg's Liquid Aminos (tastes like soy sauce but much better)

Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil (organic is best)

    Turmeric

Heat pan with 1 Tbsp. olive oil and add green pepper. After a few minutes, add onion and saute for another couple of minutes. Add a couple of tsp. turmeric and then stir. Finally, crumble tofu and add to mixture, still stirring. The turmeric lends a chickeny flavor to the tofu and turns it a bright yellow-orange, which makes it look like scrambled eggs! Finally, add some Bragg's to taste, which gives a meaty, salty flavor to the tofu mixture. I like to put this tofu dish into organic corn tortillas from Whole Foods. Inexpensive, delicious, and healthy!
